Probably not the issue for your sons now, but as soon as they graduate college and don’t have financial support from their parents, suddenly it becomes an issue.
After college most of the places they can meet potential partners cost money to be at - bars, events, club sports, etc. so to even one in contact with anyone they need to have a certain level of expendable income and time (which is often bought with income).
Then after that, taking a step towards a serious relationship also has an economic threshold = Even a woman on a hike or a cheap date in the park still wants to feel like her potential partner will be able to provide for her in the long term.
FYI I’m not saying this applies to your sons, of course! I’m talking about this on a national level.
